This tool automatically generates global transportation costs by brand code. Even better, we set it up to work with the client’s SAP enterprise system, feeding data directly into their financial software and producing actual cost to serve metrics. One of our clients had a facility that was so busy that trucks were arriving by the dozens and their loading dock was perpetually jammed. The plant was at maximum production capacity, which caused significant delays for carriers, created congestion, and presented a challenging work environment for drivers and employees. That’s when they called Sheer.

After conducting a survey of the site, load time per truck, and capacity of the dock, Sheer created a custom Dock Scheduling tool as part of the client’s overall transportation management system. This digital tool included a calendar that accepted appointments from carriers on a schedule that fit the facility’s 24/7/365 operating environment. Greater visibility meant the client was better able to staff for peak times, execute production planning, increase efficiencies, and track both arriving and departing loads. The outcome? A safer workplace operating at peak efficiency and a client in complete control. Sheer is now rolling out this solution in plants nationwide.
