We began serving the client’s logistics management and transportation needs on a somewhat limited basis in 2009. However, as our client’s needs grew, the ability of their various 3PL partners and carriers to service their needs was strained. Their carrier base was increasingly giving loads back, cancelling loads, and providing inflated spot quotes, which created significant administrative burden and cost uncertainty which put our client’s end-customer relationships at risk. In addition, our client was utilizing an in-house TMS, which required a significant investment of resources to utilize and maintain.
The Sheer Logistics team supported the client with strategic multimodal capacity solutions to ensure price and service certainty. We also provided logistics technology, including the SheerTMS and SheerExchange integration middleware, to connect their service and trading partners, streamline operations, enhance visibility, create efficiencies and improve overall supply chain management and performance. We also built a customized dock scheduling tool to help coordinate the inbound and outbound flow from the client’s loading docks.
